Get to Know Your Region, part 1
Get to know your region was the motto of this year´s sports and hiking camp of the Multifunctional Centre for Children and Youth in Moldava nad Bodvou, which, among other things, included a varied program full of sport, hiking and educational activities and exhibitions. Parents could choose from 4 one-day trips depending on their children´s preference.
On Monday, 21st August 2023, we took off on a trip to explore the beauty of the countryside near Moldava nad Bodvou. Our first stop was the Chapel of St. Roch built in 1833 in honour of Saint Roch, the patron saint of the sick and invalids, and in memory of the victims of the cholera epidemic that broke out in the city in 1831. We read some interesting information about it thanks to the installed information board. We looked at our route on the tourist map and followed the green tourist sign to the hot spring and the plant church of St. Ladislav. Along the way, we observed trees, recognized mushrooms, watched small frogs and bugs. We created lovely pictures using meadow flowers in this quiet and pleasant environment with beautiful views. Then we had a barbecue. Some children roasted a sausage on their own for the first time and enjoyed it all the more. We took a piece of magic and the mysterious atmosphere of the plant church of St. Ladislav and water from the hot spring of St. Ladislav with us in a little bottle in the form of a necklace.
We are very proud of our little and big ones who managed this trip of approximately 12 kilometres without any difficulties. They did a great job and should be proud of themselves.
