Project handover conference

On March 20, 2024, the RELEASE CONFERENCE of the project entitled "Space connects us - Multifunctional centre in Moldava nad Bodvou, which connects children and youth of the minority with the majority" took place. The main pillar of the project was the reconstruction of the old cinema building at 60 Hlavna Street in Moldava nad Bodvou.

The reconstruction of the former cinema represents a change of function of the building into a multifunctional centre for children and youth with a library. It is a modification of the layout of the building with two floors, its extension with an additional building, replacement of facade openings, insulation or replacement and regulation of heating. After the reconstruction, the usable area was increased from the original 290 to 490 square metres.
The space of the new centre has thus become multifunctional and variable. Its capacity depends on the type and nature of the event to be organized there (exhibition, discussion, concert, etc.) The reconstruction, which was designed by the design studio TERA green s.r.o. from Bardejov, started in April 2023 and was completed in December 2023. The construction work was carried out by Sales Corp s.r.o. from Košice.
The project is supported by Norway through Norway Grants co-financed from the budget of the Slovak Republic and the budget of the town of Moldava nad Bodvou

TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION COSTS: 758 936,14€
- Project grant for the construction part - 514 435€
*Total amount of the project grant - 710 436€
- Budget of the town of Moldava nad Bodvou: 244 501,14€

The established Multifunctional Centre for Children and Youth will be a coordinating centre for other centres dealing with children and youth from disadvantaged groups, long-term unemployed young people and young families with low income. High quality services for children and youth in different areas (health, education, non-discrimination, employment) will be ensured. It will organise talks, lectures, workshops, book signings, a literary café, etc. It will provide a space for organising leisure activities, quizzes and other informal educational activities.

The library will provide library, bibliographic and reference services for the general public. The new modern facilities with barrier-free character will breathe new impetus into the lives of the readers and will also bring new innovations. There will be exhibitions.
