SHROVETIDE, PENTECOST, EASTER IS COMING
Shrovetide starts traditionally at the Twelfth Night and ends on the Ash Wednesday. It is a celebration of joy and feast! Fancy balls, celebrations and hogs killing is organized at this time.
For the second time in order, the Multi-functional Center for Children and Youth organized the event named „Moldava Shrovetide“ that included also traditional Shrovetide Parade across the town. Young people from the Parliament of Youth of the town Moldava nad Bodvou had a speech at the Main Town Square.
The drummers „Drum Boom“ were at the head of the parade, led by Mgr. Imi Nagy from the Elementary School of Arts.
Children from the Children Folk Group Modranka, led by Veronika Ločová, accompanied by accordionist Tadeáš Palko from the Elementary School of Arts at Medzev, accompanied us with spoken word and songs. Girls from the Children Folk Group Čučoriedky pleased us with their songs.
Upon arrival in the Sport Stadium Pod kopcom, the adult and the children, simply all who joined the Shrovetide Parade could enjoy the hog-killing delicatessens. The youngest kids wearing masks were rewarded with typical Shrovetide sweets – donuts.
SHROVETIDE IS GETTING SHORTER, IT´S NOT COMING BACK!
Crazy Shrovetide will be here again in a year, including all the beautiful masks.
