FASIANGY CARNIVAL CREATIVE WORKSHOP
People associate the Fasiangy carnival period mainly with masks that were equipped to walk through the village or town to cheer up the local population. Therefore, on February 26th and 27th, 2022, we also prepared the Fasiangy creative workshops for workers with children and young people in the City Library of Moldava nad Bodvou - Szepsi Városi Könyvtár. Their goal was to follow the carnival customs and traditions of the past, to provide an opportunity for the creation of traditional carnival masks using the traditional lamination technique, and that under the guidance of the artist Mrs. Vierka Nagyová.
After a long time, we could met again also with new faces present. In a relaxed atmosphere, we worked and at the same time shared our experiences. We would like to thank all those who took part in the event - teachers of the Primary school ČSA , Primary school Severná, Primary art school, Preschool Veselá Zebra, Preschool Stonôžka, Community Center staff and field staff, and especially Mrs. Vierka, who provided us with her engaging storytelling, valuable advice and spiritual enrichement.
We are very pleased that the participants with their children could try this lamination technique in the creative workshops. We thank the Preschool Veselá Zebra for the beautiful photos of the masks of their skilful children.
As part of activity No. 8 Art and Traditions without Barriers, we would also like to use such events to contribute to creating the preconditions for children and young people to cultivate and develop a sense of beauty for traditional folk art and preserve the cultural heritage of our ancestors.
