On 24th October 2023, the Multifunctional Centre for Children and Youth in cooperation with the Primary School Severná 21, organized for the second time the "European Day of Languages 2023" in the Great Hall of the City Cultural Centre.

Students from 6 schools tested their knowledge in the language quiz - Primary School Severná 21, Primary School ČSA 15, Szepsi Alapiskola - a primary school with Hungarian as a teaching language, Boldog Salkaházi Sára Egyházi Iskolaközpont, Secondary School of Štefan Moyses and Grundschule Medzev.

The test results were very close:
1st place – Secondary School of Štefan Moyses
2nd place - Boldog Salkaházi Sára Egyházi Iskolaközpont
3rd place - ZŠ Grudschule Medzev

A students of Primary School Severná and the students of the Church Combined School enriched the event with a short cultural program.
In the second part, we focused on "Getting to know European languages". The representatives of the participating schools took turns at individual stations and tried various activities through which they overcame language barriers together.
The aim of the European Day of Languages is to draw attention to the importance of language learning and to support the development of multilingualism, as well as linguistic and cultural diversity, which we did very well in practice.
Many thanks to all the participants for their great performance, all the teachers for preparing their students, Primary School Severná 21 for its cooperation in the implementation and the City Cultural Centre for providing the premises.
With the motto of this year "Let's say YES to languages" translated into other languages and the mottos of individual teams, we said our goodbyes. We hope to see each other again in other joint activities where we will have the opportunity to get to know each other better, accept diversity and be tolerant towards other nationalities by getting to know their cultures and traditions.
