ECO LECTURE

On November 20, 2023, the Multifunctional Center for Children and Youth of Moldava nad Bodvou, in cooperation with the Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia and the company Ekocharita Slovakia, offered a valuable ECO lecture for students of the 8th and 9th grades of primary schools and secondary schools from the grammar school and vocational secondary school, the main goal of which was the education of the young generation in the field of modern industry and the issue of textile waste.
The lecturer Mária Jančová Wagingerová, an expert from the Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia, explained to pupils and students in an engaging lecture and subsequent discussion what a huge global problem textiles and textile waste are, what fast fashion is, when this term was created and what caused it.
Through the short film called “What are the clothes whispering about?” actors such as Juraj Kemka, Lucia Hurajová, fashion designer Boris Hanečka, rapper Kali, music producer Peter Pann and the President of the Slovak Republic pointed out the consumer way of life to the pupils.
Following the lecture, a seasonal collection of used textiles will take place in our city from November 27 to December 2, 2023. On weekdays from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the entrance to the Municipal Police building at Hlavná 112 will be accessible in front of the former Tax Office.
